A Word From the President
August Arace
& Sons, Inc. was established in 1907 as a residential Plumbing Contractor
and was incorporated in 1925 in the State of New Jersey as a General Mechanical
Contractor.
Since that humble beginning, we have evolved
into a full service Mechanical Contractor completing projects that included
every possible phase of the Mechanical Industry.
We are a Union Contractor and a mechanic working
for Arace could be working on 1/4 tubing to pipe that had to be inspected
from the inside. We have had many of our union supervisors retire from our
company and those who left for other reasons were immediately able to get
Supervisory positions with other contractors as they were considered to be
well trained by Arace. We are also proud of the fact that several of our employees
left our company to start their own Mechanical business.
Our paper system which was developed in the
late 1940's was considered to be the best in the business and eventually copied
by not only Mechanical Contractors but by General Contractors. Our paper system
(procedures and forms) was referred to as the "Million Dollar Paper System"
and today many of the computerized forms resemble our paper system.
In the forties and fifties, Arace completed
large Mechanical projects in other states ( Connecticut, Delaware, Missouri,
New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania) but in the last 40 years, we have confined
our operation to the State of New Jersey as the work here was more than enough
to keep us busy especially in the highly concentrated New Jersey Pharmaceutical
sector.
We try to concentrate our service to the private
sector (as this is where the repeat work comes from) but we do public work
as well including State, Municipal, State Universities and the U.S. Government.
We are proud to have received the Army-Navy "E" award for high achievement
in wartime construction for our work at the United States Naval Supply Depot
at Bayonne, New Jersey.
August Arace & Sons, Inc. is one of the
oldest continuously held private Mechanical Contractor in the State of New
Jersey. We attribute our longevity to our strict adherence to the company
philosophy in both good and bad times. At times the temptation to deviate
from this philosophy is great but the return on that investment would be a
disaster. We practice what we preach and for that reason we will celebrate
our 100"' anniversary in 2007. August Arace has a proud past and the
future will produce the same results.
